n\n\nThere are images that not only tell the story of an era\, but bring i
	t back to\nlife. Jim Saah\, a photographer from Washington\, D.C.\, was th
ere to document it.\nWith his camera\, Saah closely followed a community o
f young people who\, in the\n1980s and 1990s\, invented a different way of
making music\, living\, and\nresisting: hardcore punk. Saah photographed
	Washington D.C. hardcore bands such\nas Minor Threat\, Faith\, and Void\,
but he didn't stop there. He also captured key\nartists such as Iggy Pop\,
Sonic Youth\, the Ramones\, Talking Heads\, and Lou Reed.\nOver the years
\, his book\, In My Eyes\, has become a unique testimony to that\nuniverse
of energy\, friendship\, and creative tension. In My Eyes is not just a\n
book of photographs. Through the lens of the past\, it reminds us of the c
urrent\nand urgent need for alternative communities based on creativity\,
authenticity\,\nand relationship building. King Koala Press is an independ
ent publishing house\ndedicated to photography\, visual culture\, and docu
menting the international\nmusic and urban scene. Born from the encounter
between art publishing and the\nDIY punk spirit\, it publishes books that
explore the relationship between\nimages\, collective memory\, and contemp
orary subcultures. With a curated yet\naccessible approach\, King Koala Pr
ess collaborates with photographers\, artists\,\nand musicians from around
	 the world\, promoting high-quality editions that become\ntrue collector's
items. In November of 2025\, it brought Jim Saah on tour in\nItaly with t
he new edition of In My Eyes—his classic photographic reportage on\nthe pu
nk and hardcore scene in Washington\, D.C. and beyond—in an updated and\ne
xpanded version for international audiences. King Koala Press presents the
new\nedition of In My Eyes\, Photographs 1982-1997\, Jim Saah's photograp
hic book\, a\nmilestone in the visual documentation of the Washington D.C.
hardcore punk\nscene\, for the first time in Europe. After the success of
the original\npublication with Cabin 1\, the work arrives in Europe in a
new format: a\nbilingual (English/ Japanese) volume\, compact in size but
dense with iconic\nimages. The photographs provide an insider's view of th
e creative and musical\ncommunity that defined an independent aesthetic an
d ethic in the 1980s and\n1990s\, which is still a source of inspiration t
oday. The book includes exclusive\ntext contributions\, including an inter
view with Ian MacKaye (Minor Threat\,\nFugazi\, Dischord Records)\, a dire
ct witness and key player in that cultural\nmovement. The publication will
be accompanied by a photographic exhibition at\nQuinta del Sordo\, Madrid
	\, from October 15\, 2026\, to October 23\, 2026\, featuring\na selection
of shots spanning four decades of music\, friendship\, and cultural\nresis
tance.\n\nJim Saah is a photographer and filmmaker from Washington\, D.C.\
, who has been\ndocumenting the American punk and hardcore scene since 198
	0. A lifelong\nphotographer\, he has published his work in publications su
ch as The Washington\nPost and Rolling Stone\, immortalizing artists such
as Fugazi\, Minor Threat\,\nBlack Flag\, The Pixies\, and Lou Reed. He has
also worked in film and video\,\nserving as director of photography for t
he acclaimed documentary Salad Days: A\nDecade of Punk in Washington\, D.C
.\, further expanding his visual chronicle of a\nmovement that redefined g
	lobal music culture.
